How My Trip Online Check-In Works

A check-in window can open while you are asleep, in a meeting or already focused on the rest of your trip. Miss it and you may end up checking in later than planned or, with some low-cost carriers, paying an additional airport check-in fee.

The My Trip Online check in service takes that reminder out of your travel routine. For eligible bookings, it watches the check-in window, completes online check-in as soon as the window opens and emails you the boarding pass.

It checks in every passenger on the booking, not only the person who made it, and it handles the return flight the same way as the outbound. The return is the easy one to forget, usually on the last day of a holiday.

How It Works, Step by Step

  1. Connect your inbox.

Give My Trip Online read-only access to the email address you book flights with. The access is used to recognise booking confirmations, not to edit, send or delete anything in your account.

  2. Let the service find your bookings.

My Trip Online reads flight confirmations and picks out the details needed for check-in, so you do not have to copy a booking reference or a date into another form.

  3. Match the booking to the airline.

Check-in windows vary from carrier to carrier and, with some airlines, depend on the fare or on whether a seat has been reserved. My Trip Online applies the rules that fit each supported booking.

  4. Wait for the window to open.

My Trip Online completes check-in as soon as the airline makes it available. On Ryanair and Wizz Air that is 24 hours before departure, or earlier if you paid for a seat. The exact timing sits with the airline, which controls its own check-in system.

  5. Collect your boarding pass.

It arrives in your inbox once check-in succeeds. Depending on your baggage, route, airport and document requirements, you may still need to visit a bag-drop or airline desk before security.

Check-in itself takes a few minutes. The timing is the awkward part, because it changes with every airline and every booking. My Trip Online tracks that timing for supported flights, so you do not have to set a separate reminder for every departure.

When Online Check-In Opens

Each airline sets its own window, and some change it depending on the fare or on whether you paid for a seat. Ryanair opens free online check-in 24 hours before departure, or 60 days before with a paid seat. Wizz Air opens at 24 hours, or 30 days before with a paid seat. easyJet opens 30 days before departure.

Closing times matter just as much. Ryanair and easyJet close online check-in 2 hours before departure, and Wizz Air 3 hours before. After that, Ryanair charges £55 or €55 per passenger to check in at the desk, and Wizz Air charges a desk fee at almost every airport it flies from. For a family of four on a Ryanair return, two missed windows cost £440.

Trips With Several Flights

Every leg has its own window. A return trip is two check-ins. A connection booked on a separate ticket adds another, and flights on separate bookings stay separate even when the airline is the same. My Trip Online tracks each supported flight under the rules that apply to it, so the return leg is checked in on time even if you are on a beach when its window opens.

Boarding Passes on Your Phone

Ryanair has accepted only digital boarding passes since 12 November 2025, and printed passes are no longer valid. easyJet does not accept a screenshot of a PDF boarding pass, and both easyJet and Wizz Air list airports where mobile passes do not work. Before you fly, check how your airline wants the pass shown at the gate.

Supported Airlines

My Trip Online supports airlines including Ryanair, Wizz Air and easyJet. Those are the airlines where automation helps most: short free windows, early closing times and fees at the desk.

My Trip Online is an independent third-party service. It is not an airline, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the airlines or airports it refers to.

Airlines update their check-in systems regularly, and coverage can depend on the route and the fare, so check it against the actual booking. Where a flight is not covered, the airline’s own website or app works as usual.

What Check-In Does and Doesn’t Cover

Automated check-in covers one part of the journey: completing online check-in for a supported booking and sending the boarding pass by email once it succeeds. The airline keeps control of the flight itself, the seat inventory and everything that happens at the airport.

Seat allocation stays with the carrier. If no seat has been purchased or reserved, the airline assigns one under its own rules. Choosing seats together, upgrades, extra legroom and priority boarding stay with the airline too.

Baggage is handled at the airport as usual. Hold luggage goes to the bag-drop or check-in desk, and cabin baggage limits stay subject to the airline’s rules.

Checking in yourself through an airline’s official channels is always an option. My Trip Online is a paid subscription service, and what it adds is automated check-in for supported bookings, with the window tracked on your behalf. Current trial terms, recurring pricing and cancellation conditions are available on the pricing page and in the subscription terms.

When the Airline Needs Something From You

Some check-ins can only be finished by you. The most common reason is a document check. Ryanair asks passengers with a non-EU passport to verify their visa or residence document in its app, and if that never happens, check-in moves to the desk, with the fee. Wizz Air sends holders of non-EU documents to the counter to have their documents checked.

When an airline needs a passport number, a document check or a payment before it will issue a boarding pass, My Trip Online sends you a heads-up instead of letting check-in fail. You then finish that step yourself while the window is still open.

Who It Helps Most

Families and groups get the most out of it, because one person usually ends up watching every window for every passenger. Frequent short-haul flyers come next: someone taking a dozen return trips a year on Ryanair or Wizz Air has two dozen check-in windows to catch. Travellers with a non-EU passport benefit from the early warning when an airline wants a document checked.

Real Traveller Reviews

Independent review platforms are one way to see what other travellers report about the service.

For anyone searching for a check in My Trip Online review, the most useful entries are usually the ones that describe the process rather than give a star rating. Travellers discuss situations such as check-in windows opening at inconvenient times, boarding passes arriving by email before departure and families using the service so that one person does not have to monitor several bookings manually.

My Trip Online also responds to negative reviews on Trustpilot.

Questions About My Trip Online Check-In

Does it check in everyone on my booking? Yes. Every passenger on the booking is checked in.

Is there a charge per flight? No. Automated check-in is included in both plans, with no limit on the number of flights you add.

What can the service see in my inbox? It has read-only access, used to recognise booking confirmations. It cannot send, edit or delete anything in your account.

What if my airline is not supported? Check in through the airline’s own website or app as usual. Nothing about the booking changes.

Before Your Next Flight

My Trip Online check-in is built for travellers who would rather not track airline check-in windows themselves. For a supported booking, the service completes online check-in and sends the boarding pass by email, while the airline continues to control seating, baggage rules, document checks and airport procedures.

If that fits the way you travel, check whether your booking is covered, review the current subscription terms and let My Trip Online check-in handle the timing on your next flight.
